ARRHYTHMIA - The Story

Dramatic question - When is it okay to take a risk? Is it ever okay to take a risk?

Logline - Luisa, a sheltered introvert with a heart condition, has to deal with the high stress of a home intruder while her roommate, promiscuous party girl Sam, is abducted by a cult who has taken advantage of her extroverted personality.

Synopsis - Luisa’s heart condition, along with her father’s strict discipline, has led her to taking on a risk averse personality. She doesn’t go out, she doesn’t date, (she’s convinced having sex might kill her) she doesn’t play sports - she doesn’t do anything fun. Meanwhile, her roommate Sam has been raised with little supervision from her mother and has an affinity for drugs, alcohol, and sleeping around. This causes conflict between them at home and at their shared workplace. Luisa, who is afraid of her heart raising over 120 bpm, has to confront her conflict avoidant personality when a conflict - in the form of a home intruder named Lee - comes to her. Sam realizes too late that her wild, devil may care, attitude has gotten her into a potentially dangerous situation with a friend when they wind up alone at a cult trio’s imminent sacrifice - intoxicated, as potential victims of the seductive cult leader, Mother. Both of these young women have to account for their parents’ flaws in raising them and address how their differing personalities have led to discontent in their lives - can they overcome these issues, or will they die trying at the hands of their tormentors?
